Karreeta Meerta Peeneeyt

Translating to "Grow & Rise Up Strong" in the language of the Peek Woorroong and Keerraay Woorroong People, Karreeta Meerta Peeneeyt is a first-of-a-kind Online Cultural Empowerment, Personal Development and Leadership Program created by First Nations Led Social Enterprise Yarn Bark, that is targeted at any First Nations Young Person aged 14+ across Australia.

First Nations Young People for too long have experienced complex barriers to accessing strength based and culturally appropriate programs and opportunities that support their cultural growth and personal development. Because of these barriers we witness thousands of First Nations Young People grow up disconnected, confused, lost and deprived of opportunities to fully understand and connect to the beauty and uniqueness of being part of the longest living culture in existence.

It has become increasingly evident overtime that there is a need for a more modernised program that eliminates many of these access barriers to ensure our young mob do not continue to miss out.

This highly interactive, engaging and strength based program aims to support First Nations Young People to realise their inherited strength, knowledge and capacity to live holistically healthy lives. Seeing them proud, not shame. Empowered, not disempowered.

Grounded in First Nations ways of being and learning approaches, Karreeta Meerta Peeneeyt facilitates a journey of exploring cultural connection,  self-care and wellbeing, overcoming shame and limiting labels, healthy choices, connecting to the power of our collective community narratives and identity and finding confidence in our voices as First Nations Young People.

Consisting of all pre recorded video content and housed on a modern online platform, Karreeta Meerta Peeneeyt is accessible to any First Nations Young Person, anywhere, at anytime. All that is required is a connection to the internet and support to access a laptop or app on any smart device. Making this a program that comes to the comfort and safety of the young person, not them come to it.
